Monterey County Sheriff’s Office to Host 2026 Memorial Wall Ceremony Honoring Fallen Personnel on May 13 in Salinas
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will host the 2026 Memorial Wall Ceremony to honor
13 members of the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office who have died in the line of duty
throughout the agency’s more than 175-year history.
The ceremony will take place at the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Memorial Wall located at
1414 Natividad Road in Salinas and will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday May 13, 2026. The
memorial ceremony will include the placement of flowers and the reading of the names of the
fallen Monterey County Sheriff’s Office personnel whose service and sacrifice continue to be
remembered by the community and those who serve today.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to the brave deputies and
personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the people of Monterey County. The
story of the memorial began with a dedication ceremony in October of 2014, where the toll of a
bell solemnly marked the names of eight fallen deputies. Over the years, additional names have
been added to the wall, serving as a reminder of the risks and sacrifices associated with the
profession of law enforcement.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office invites members of the community, allied agencies,
retired personnel, and the families of the fallen to attend this solemn ceremony of remembrance
and reflection as we honor those who gave their lives in service to others.
