Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Release Additional Photo of Suspect Wanted for Shooting 2 People in Fields South of Greenfield on February 9

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Detectives released a photograph on Thursday, February 20 of 33-year-old Ramon Valdes Carrasco taken after he is believed to have shot 2 people in the agricultural fields south of Greenfield on Sunday, February 9, 2025. There have been reported sightings of Carrasco in the Greenfield area. Ramon Valdes Carrasco is still believed to be in and around the city of Greenfield. Information continues to come into the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, but there has been a delay in receiving the information from the public resulting in him being able to elude law enforcement.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office continues to ask the community to be vigilant and report any sighting of Carrasco IMMEDIATELY by calling 9-1-1.

Carrasco is wanted in relation to a shooting that occurred at a homeless encampment in the agricultural fields just south of Elm Avenue and 4th Street on Sunday February 9, 2025. A victim was located and found to be suffering from non-life-threatening wounds, while 15 minutes later, a second call was received from a victim reporting that a subject had brandished a firearm at them in the area of Elm Avenue and 4th Street.

That victim also reported a second victim of a gunshot wound. A second person suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was found in the agricultural fields south of Elm Avenue and 3rd Street. Both victims were transported to a trauma center for treatment of their injuries.

33-year-old Ramon Valdes Carrasco is described as 5-06, 150 pounds with black hair, green eyes and facial hair. He is believed to be unhoused and frequents the Greenfield area. Some tips have come in stating that Carrasco has been seen wearing a surgical style mask to conceal his face.

If you know where Ramon Valdes Carrasco is or if you see him, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not approach him as he is considered to be Armed and Dangerous.

Fatal 3 Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong Way Driver on Highway 101 Outside of King City on January 10

A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. According to the King City CHP a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old Paul Lee Cooper of Otis, Oregon was heading the wrong way going southbound in the northbound lanes south of Jolon Road, while a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Dinora Maribel Gomez of Salinas was heading northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road in the #1 lane and a Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old Ignacio Sangerman of King City was also traveling northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road but was in the #2 lane. Due to Cooper's level of impairment his vehicle went the wrong way on Highway 101 going directly into the path of Gomez' vehicle causing the rear of her car to crash with the front of the vehicle driven by Sangerman. Monterey County DA Releases Preliminary Information Concerning an Officer Involved Shooting Incident that Occurred Outside of Soledad on December 16

SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025. January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager.
