Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Identifies Suspect Wanted After 2 Victims are Shot in Fields South of Greenfield on February 9; The Suspect is Considered Armed & Dangerous
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have identified a suspect wanted in connection to an attempted homicide of 2
victims that occurred on Sunday February 9, 2025.
At about 11:30 AM, Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies and Greenfield Police Officers were called to a report of a gunshot
victim at a homeless encampment in agricultural fields just south of Elm Avenue and 4th Street. A victim was located and
found to be suffering from non-life-threatening wounds. About 15 minutes later, a second call was received from a victim
reporting that a subject had brandished a firearm at them in the area of Elm Avenue and 4th Street. That victim also reported a
second victim of a gunshot wound. A second person suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was found in the
agricultural fields south of Elm Avenue and 3rd Street. Both victims were transported to a trauma center for treatment of their
injuries.
An extensive search of the area was conducted with assistance of Greenfield Police Department, Soledad Police Department,
California Highway Patrol, including assistance from CHP’s H-70 Helicopter, CalFire’s law enforcement division and
Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies. The suspect was not located.
The suspect in this investigation has been identified as 23-year-old Ramon Valdes Carrasco. He is about 5-06, 150 pounds with
black hair, green eyes and facial hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing. He is believed to be unhoused and frequents the
Greenfield area.
If you know where Ramon Valdes Carrasco is or if you see him, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not approach him as he is
considered to be Armed and Dangerous.
