On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 1130 am, the King City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that was reportedly stolen. An initial investigation, utilizing review of surveillance video, provided officers with a known suspect identified as Martin Torres. Assistance was requested from the California Highway Patrol Air Operations H70, who was in the area on patrol. CHP H70 located the stolen vehicle on the 100 block of Sussex Way with Torres exiting the vehicle and walking into a residence. Upon arrival of KCPD officers, Torres exited the rear of the residence and tried to hide in a backyard. Officers contacted Torres and arrested him for theft of the car, a Parole Violation and Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. Torres was later booked into the Monterey County Jail without incident, while the vehicle was returned to the owner. The King City Police Department thanks their allied Law Enforcement Partners for their assistance which resulted in a safe conclusion to this investigation.
