1 person is Killed in Multi Vehicle Collision Outside of Gonzales on Highway 101 on October 19

 

The Monterey California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal multi vehicle accident that happened on Highway 101 near Gloria Road outside of Gonzales at 11:45 am on Saturday, October 19. Both southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Gloria Road were shutdown while the CHP investigated. The collision involved 5 vehicles as a 16-year-old male from Salinas was driving a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 that was hauling a trailer southbound on Highway 101. The Chevrolet 2500 struck a Chevrolet Colorado in front of them which lost control and overturned. The driver of the Chevy Colorado was identified as a 49-year-old from Salinas and was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in that vehicle was transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated for his injuries. The wreck caused a chain reaction causing 3 more cars to crash. Alcohol is not a suspected as a factor in the crash and no other injuries were reported. The 16-year-old driver of the Chevy 2500 was licensed as the accident is still under investigation. That stretch of road on Highway 101 was closed for several hours and reopened sometime after 3 p.m.

King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
