Spectrum Launches Gigabit Broadband, Mobile, TV and Voice Services in San Lucas; Spectrum will host a celebration of the expansion of services to the community with the County of Monterey at the San Ardo Branch Library on September 23!

Monterey, CA – September 20, 2024 – Spectrum, the #1 rural internet provider in the nation*, announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to nearly 100 homes and small businesses in the community of San Lucas in South Monterey County. Earlier this year, Spectrum completed the launch of service to more than 170 homes and small businesses in the community of San Ardo in South Monterey County, and in parts of North Monterey County.

Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout in San Ardo and San Lucas is partly offset by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) broadband grant, awarded by the County of Monterey.

To celebrate the launch, Spectrum will host a community celebration of the expansion of services to San Ardo and San Lucas in conjunction with the County of Monterey at the San Ardo Branch Library on Monday, September 23 at 6 p.m. The community celebration will consist of a short informational program including how to sign up for Spectrum services and a tablet raffle giveaway.

Spectrum officials will be joined by Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and Monterey County Chief Information Officer Eric Chatham.

“Spectrum is bringing gigabit broadband to unserved communities in Monterey County,” said Keri Askew-Bailey, Group Vice President of Government Affairs at Spectrum. “Our investment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in previously unserved areas such as San Lucas. We are providing local residents and small businesses superior connectivity at highly competitive prices, backed by a team of skilled local technicians and 100% U.S.-based customer service.”

Broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps, money-saving Mobile options and 85,000 free On Demand choices

Spectrum Internet delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps and Advanced WiFi for residential customers, featuring starting speeds of 500 Mbps, with no modem fees, data caps or contracts. Spectrum Business Internet offers speeds up to 1 Gbps, with 400 Mbps and 600 Mbps options. The company has also begun a network evolution that will provide gigabit upload speeds and multiple gigabit download speeds across its entire 41-state service area.

“The Board of Supervisors are making equitable and meaningful investments of ARPA dollars to expand true broadband access in the often-forgotten stretches of Monterey County,” said Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez. “Too many of our communities remain on the wrong side of the digital divide, we are proud to partner with Charter Communications to realize this unique partnership of public and private, with a mix of Federal and local leadership. Together we are following through on promises and delivering real results for rural communities today.”

Spectrum Internet exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in January 2023.

"Expanding broadband access has never been more important," said Eric Chatham, Monterey County Chief Information Officer. "In today's world, reliable internet access is essential for education, healthcare, and economic development. The approval of the funding by our Board of Supervisors enabled our partnership with Charter Communications to bring high-speed connectivity to the people and communities who need it most.”

Along with multiple broadband options, Spectrum services now available also include Spectrum Mobile™ and Spectrum TV®. Spectrum Mobile is the nation’s fastest-growing mobile provider** and combines with Spectrum Internet and Advanced WiFi to provide seamless connectivity inside and outside the home. Spectrum Mobile provides customers access to nationwide 5G at great value, with Unlimited lines starting at $30 a month, as well as By the Gig options.

Spectrum TV offers more than 270 HD channels and access to 85,000 free On Demand movies and shows. Using the Spectrum TV App — the highest-rated pay TV streaming app in the U.S.*** — viewers can stream content across a growing number of platforms, including Xumo Stream Box, Xumo TV, Roku, Samsung Smart TV, Apple TV, Kindle Fire, Xbox, Windows, macOS and Chromecast.
