Monterey County District Attorney Releases Names of Officers in OIS Near Soledad

 

SALINAS, California - Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on Wednesday, June 5 released the names of

the officers who fired shots in the officer involved shooting which occurred on Monday night, June 3, 2024, on Highway 101

near Soledad. Both are employed by the King City Police Department.

Sgt. Anthony Shaw. He has been employed as a sergeant with KCPD for 3 years, 9 months. Before his current

employment, he was a peace officer with Central Marin Police Authority for 13 years, 4 months.

Officer Cody Hughes. He has been employed with KCPD for 3 months. Before his current employment, he was a

Monterey County Probation Officer for 16 years.

The suspect involved in the shooting, 36-year-old Armando Garcia Rodriguez is still being treated at a local hospital and will be booked into the Monterey County Jail.

The DA's office reports that Rodriguez fired 4 rounds at officers before Shaw and Hughes returned fire.
