Los Tucanes De Tijuana are a Meixcan norteno band led by Mario Quintero Lara. The band was founded in Tijuana, Baja California in 1987. During their career, Los Tucanes de Tijuana have garnered several awards and recognitions, including a Latin Grammy in 2012 for the album 365 dias, five Grammy Award nominations, nine Lo Nuestro Awards nominations, and multiple BMI Awards for Quintero as a composer. They are the first norteño music band to obtain an international film award by winning the Un Certain Regard Angel Film award at the Monaco International Film Festival for their participation in the documentary Los ilegales. In 2008, the group received a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame. In 2019 they became the first regional Mexican music group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, held in Indio, California, and have also participated in important musical events in their native country and other territories like Vive Latino and Pa'l Norte festivals. They have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and have obtained 34 gold and 30 platinum records. Songs from their repertoire like "La chona", "El tucanazo", "La chica sexy", "Vivir de noche" and "El centenario" are popular on radio stations and music platforms, and some of their record productions have made it onto some charts in the United States.

El Fantasma is the stage name for Mexican regional singer and songwriter Alexander Garcia, also affectionately known in Mexican media circles as “The King of the Underground.” The reasons for the lack of transparency around his identity are numerous and are difficult to sort from fact, but none have kept him from becoming a charting recording artist for the Afinarte label. Garcia has been interested in music since he was a teen. He dropped his first single, “Mi 45,” in early 2016. Its video garnered over ten million views. His debut album, Equipo Armado, ran up the Mexican airplay charts. He wasted no time, issuing three more albums during the calendar year: En Vivo Desde Badiraguato, Pa’ los Recuerdos, Vol. 1, and Vengo a Aclarar. A live version of the latter, Vengo a Aclarar (En Vivo), followed the next year. The live version rekindled interest in the studio album, which landed at number ten on the Hot Latin Albums chart during August of 2017.

Regional Mexican superstar, Chiquis, saw success in 2023 with the release of two albums (Chiquis En Vivo Desde Lunario Ciudad De México and Bee Side), multiple sold-out concerts on her Abeja Reina Part II Tour through Mexico and the United States, singles that underscored her versatility and a #1 radio single in Mexico. The year kicked off with Chiquis attending the 2023 GRAMMY Awards, where she was nominated for "Best Regional Mexican Music Album" for Abeja Reina, which had already won the 2022 Latin GRAMMY for "Best Banda Album". Chiquis also earned a nomination for the Ambies Awards in the "Best Wellness and Interpersonal Relationships Podcast" category for her popular podcast "Chiquis and Chill,"; five nominations for Premio Lo Nuestro, two Premios Juventud nomination, and a nomination for Best Regional Mexican Artist at the Latin AMAs. She delivered two spectacular live television performances at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards and Premios Juventud.

Lake San Antonio Closed Due to Large Scale Fish Die Off; Number of Fish Impacted is Increasing and Reason for Die Off Remains Unknown

July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. On July 5, 2024, Parks staff noticed that dead baitfish, mostly shad, began washing up on the shore around Lake San Antonio and immediately contacted California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to report the situation. At that time, the CDFW fisheries biologist stated the fish die off was most likely due to the high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the situation most likely did not present a risk to the public. Parks staff also contacted the Water Resources Agency (WRA), State Water Resources Control Board and Environmental Health Bureau.   Unfortunately, the fish die off has continued with larger species such as bass, catfish, crappie, carp, and trout being impacted. Attached photos include a 3–4-pound bass.   CDFW, WRA and EHB are working together to try to determi
