Road & Lane Closures on Highway 101, Harkins Road & Hunter Lane & Arroyo Seco Road in South Monterey for the Week of October 29

 

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for South Monterey County from Sunday,  October 29 through Saturday,  November 4. 


Highway 101: Livingstone Road/El Camino Real: October 31 – November 3

One lane and shoulder closure will occur along northbound Highway 101 at Livingstone Road/El Camino Real for slope cleaning work from 8 am to 3 pm.


Highway 101: Alta Street/Old Stage Road – West Laurel Drive: Oct. 29 – Oct. 31

There will be full closure of the off ramps along southbound Highway 101 between Alta Street/Old Stage Road and West Laurel Drive for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am.


Highway 101: Alta Street/Old Stage Road: October 29 – October 31

There will be full closure of the off ramp of northbound Highway 101 at Alta Street/Old Stage Road for striping operation work from 9 pm to 5 am.


Highway 101: North Soledad Overhead: November 2 – November 3

There will be one lane along northbound Highway 101 at the north Soledad Overhead for vegetation spraying from 7 am 4 pm.


Highway 101: North Bradley: October 29 – November 3

Alternating lane closures will occur along northbound Highway 101 100 feet just north and south of the North Bradley Overcrossing for work on the bridge from 6:30 pm to 7 am.


Highway 101: Jolon Road (Southbound): October 31

There will be one lane along southbound Highway 101 at Jolon Road (south) for tree work from 9 am 1 pm.


Salinas –  Spreckels: Harkins Road & Hunter Lane:  Long - Term

There will be temporary lane closures and one lane reversible traffic controls along Harkin Road and Hunter lane for pavement work beginning Monday, October 16, 2023. The work hours are 7:00 am to  5:00 p.m., with occasional nighttime work. The Harkins Road work will be located from the City of Salinas limits to Fifth Street in Spreckels.  The Hunter Lane work will be taking place from State Route 68 to Harkins Road. 


Arroyo Seco Road: September - December

Repair work along Arroyo Seco Road in south Monterey County will begin in September to repair  damage that occurred during the heavy rains and flooding in March. The repair work will occur at mile post 2.5 and at mile post 4.2. The road is open to residents who live along that portion of road, and they will be allowed access in and out of the area. Once the repair work is completed, it will allow for the reopening of Arroyo Seco Campground, which was closed by the US Forest Service.


Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. 3 Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Soledad on December 7

  A 3 vehicle crash ocurred on Highway 101 Southbound near the Front Street exit in Soledad at 4:01 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 7. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

1 Vehicle Rollover Outside of King City on October 20

  1 vehicle overturned off of County Road 18 and Frudden Road outside of King City at 2:34 pm on Friday afternoon, October 20. 1 occupant received injuries as a result of the crash and ended up being transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated. The cause of the wreck is unknown.
