Dispatch in Gonzales received a call of a vehicle on fire on the 300 block of Rincon Road at 6:41 am on Friday morning, July 21. Gonzales Police Officers were paged to the call at 6:43am arriving on the scene at 06:44 am to find a vehicle on fire, fully engulfed in large flames, emitting thick black smoke on the roadway of the cul-de-sac of Rincon Road. The Gonzales Fire Department arrived shortly afterwards and upon extinguishing the fire, an occupant was discovered dead seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. This is still an open and active investigation, and the deceased’s identity has not been verified and will not be made available until established and family notification is completed. Investigators are attempting to determine the cause of the fire and gather additional information.
