County of Monterey staff is passing out these fliers in Pajaro to residents who are in our emergency shelters and gathering at the bridge to inquire about reentering the area. They were posted on social media along with a special message to residents of Pajaro which is also attached and being distributed by hand.
There are a lot of questions about reentering areas
that have been damaged. Reentering and repopulating neighborhoods is a
multi-agency effort. Monterey County OES will continue to keep the community informed.
The first part of this effort is CalFire Damage
Assessments. That work is underway and nearing completion. An
interactive map showing that work is linked to our storm information
page:

After the initial surveys, there will be additional work done by environmental health and building inspectors and others. There is no time set yet for reentry.
