Road and Lane Closures on Highway 101 in South Monterey County for the Week of February 26

 

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from

Sunday, February 26 through Saturday, March 4. 


Highway 101: Main Street/Chualar Street – Soledad Prison: March 1

There will be a moving lane closure along southbound Highway 101 between Main Street/Chualar Street

and Soledad Prison for spraying operation work from 8:30 am to 2 pm.


Highway 101: Soledad Prison – Arroyo Seco Road: March 2

There will be a moving lane closure along southbound Highway 101 between Soledad Prison and Arroyo

Seca Road for spraying operation work from 9 am to 2 pm.


Highway 101: North Soledad Overhead: February 27– March 3

There will be full closure of the off ramp of northbound Highway 101 at the Soledad Overhead for bridge

work from 7 am to 5 pm.


Highway 101 Soledad Overhead: Long-Term

There will one long-term lane closure along northbound Highway 101 at the Soledad Overhead for

bridge work.


Highway 101: First Street: March 1 – March 2

There will be full closure of the on ramps of northbound and southbound Highway 101 at First Street

for paving operation work from 8 am to 4 pm.


Highway 101: Canal Street: February 27 – March 2

There will be full closure of the on and off ramps of northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Canal

Street for miscellaneous work from 8 am to 4 pm.


Highway 101: Broadway: February 27 – March 3

There will be full closure of the off and on ramps of southbound Highway 101 at Broadway for

miscellaneous work from 8 am to 4 pm .


Highway 101: Layous – State Route 198: February 28 – March 2

There will be one lane closure along southbound Highway 101 between Layous and State Route 198 for

emergency repair work from 7 am to 4 pm.


Highway 101: First Street – Jolon Road, King City: Long-Term

There will be one lane closure along northbound and southbound Highway 101 from First Street to Jolon

Road for roadway excavation and pavement work from 8 am to 4 pm. Motorists can expect delays of up

to 10 minutes.


Highway 101: Front Street: Long-Term

One lane closure will occur along Front Street at Highway 101 for bridge work from 7 am to 12 am.


Highway 101: Camp Roberts Rest Areas: Long-Term

There will be full closure of the Camp Roberts Rest Areas on northbound and southbound Highway 101

for work to upgrade the facility from 10 am to 12 pm.

July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. King City Man Arrested on January 6 for Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping

  According to King City Police Department, on December 30, 2024 a 17-year-old minor female victim reported that she had attended a party on the 100 Block of Bedford Circle on December 24, 2024. During the party, the suspect provided her with alcohol. He then pulled the victim into a bedroom, forcibly removed her clothing and had sexual intercourse with her against her will. This case was investigated by the King City Police Department Investigations Unit which resulted in the apprehension and arrest on January 6, 2025 of the suspect identified as 21-year-old Jesus Oseguera Briseno of King City. Briseno was also booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping. Attempted Homicide Shooting Incident in King City on September 29

  The King City Police Department received a report of gunshots heard in the area of the 600 block of Sycamore Street at around 1 am on Sunday, September 29. While enroute, the King City PD was advised that 2 victims were transported to Mee Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be treated for gunshot wounds.   Upon arrival, officers were told that a single unknown suspect opened the gate to a fenced yard and fired 10 rounds into a crowd attending a party. 2 individuals were struck by the gunfire, after-which the suspect fled on foot.  The suspect was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie and pants. The 2 victims are a 16-year-old juvenile male who was shot 3 times and an 18-year-old male who was shot 1 time.  Both victims were transported to Natividad Hospital from Mee Memorial and are currently listed in stable condition.
