County of Monterey Releases Initial Storm Damage Estimates; Damage Estimates are Expected to Rise as Damage Assessments Continue
Salinas, CA - January 15, 2023 – The County of Monterey having done a very
preliminary damage assessment has released initial damage estimates as part of
their reporting to the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
The County Department of Emergency Management estimates at least $30 million
in public infrastructure damages. This estimate includes debris removal,
emergency protective measures, roads and bridges, water control facilities, public
buildings and equipment, public utilities, parks, and recreation.
In addition, initial estimates are that the Agriculture Industry has suffered losses
to the tune of $40 to $50 million.
