King City, Calif. – One (1) person was arrested for Driving Under the Influence at a DUI Checkpoint on Friday night, December 16, 2022. The DUI checkpoint was held at 625 Division Street from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fourteen (14) people were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, while two-hundred-sixty (260) vehicles were contacted where five (5) sets of field sobriety tests were conducted, resulting in one (1) DUI arrest. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. The next DUI Checkpoint will be held on August 25, 2023. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
