According to the Soledad Police Department, while on patrol on Wednesday night, November 9 K-9 Officer Ambriz conducted a traffic stop for vehicle code violations. While on the stop, the driver identified as Modesto Merino out of Greenfield failed to provide his true name to the Officers. However, Soledad Police Officers were able to identify him, found that he was unlicensed, and took him into custody. While getting ready to inventory and tow the vehicle, K-9 Officer Ambriz's partner Koda found a loaded, unserialized firearm and ammunition in the vehicle. Merino was booked into the Monterey County Jail on weapons and vehicle code violations.
