On Sunday night, November 27 at about 8:30 P.M., patrol officers contacted Uriel Medina near the intersection of 7th Street and Oak Avenue in Greenfield. Medina was a known gang associate with a criminal history that included robbery. As the officers attempted to detain Medina and conduct a pat-down search, Medina fled on his bicycle.
The first officer tased Medina, while the second officer ran after and tackled Medina. Medina fought and resisted the officers, and he was ultimately taken into custody. During the search of Medina, officers found a loaded .40 caliber Glock 27 “ghost gun” in his waistband.
Medina was evaluated and cleared by medical staff, and he was transported to the Monterey County Jail for firearm related charges, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.
