On September 22, 2022, at approximately 10:38pm, officers from the King City Police Department with assistance from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a report of a shooting in the area of the 700 Block of South Vanderhurst Street. Upon arrival, officers initiated an investigation and subsequently located a victim on the 48000 block of Loneoak Street with a gunshot wound to the back. The investigation has preliminarily revealed four subjects approached the victim and a group of other individuals and demanded their wallets. An altercation ensued and the victim was shot once in the back. The victim then fled into the 48000 block of Loneoak Street and called for assistance. The investigation is ongoing.
The King City Police Department is requesting that the public residing on the 400 to 700 block of S. Vanderhurst Street or on Villa Drive to check their home surveillance systems for suspicious activity.
