The King City PD reports that 1 person was arrested for Reckless Driving near a DUI checkpoint
in King City, CA on August 27, 2022. The DUI checkpoint was held at Broadway Street and Canal
Street from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. During the course of the DUI checkpoint 20 drivers were issued
citations for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 404
vehicles were contacted, 1 person was arrested for other criminal charges, and 6 sets of field
sobriety tests were conducted which resulted in no DUI arrests.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving‐
related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking
suspected impaired drivers off the roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from
the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
