Just before 2:00 on Sunday morning, July 24 a Greenfield Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Officers directed the driver to exit the vehicle so they could conduct field sobriety tests, but the driver, 37-year-old, Miguel Herrera Valdivia, refused to comply with officers’ instructions.
Officers gained access to the vehicle and detained Valdivia. During a search of Valdivia’s waistband, a loaded .40 Smith & Wesson M&P Shield firearm was located. He was taken into custody. A further search located cocaine in his wallet.
Once at the police department, field sobriety tests were conducted, to include a breathalyzer examination. Valdivia was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, and had a blood alcohol content of .17%.
Valdivia was transported to the Monterey County Jail for DUI, narcotics, and firearm related charges.
