Results from the 2022 Midterm State Primary election on June 7 in Monterey County were certified on Friday, June 24. Over 64,700 votes were cast with a turnout of 31.08%. In the 4 person contested race for Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto received 48.9% of the vote, Joe Moses accumulated over 25%, Justin Patterson over 17.9% and Jeff Hoyne over 7%. In the race for a District 18 Congressional seat in the US House of Representatives Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren received over 46.5%, Peter Hernandez over 35% and Luis Acevedo-Arreguin picked over 18%, while in the District 29 State Assembly race Assemblyman Robert Rivas earned over 63.8% and Stephanie Castro over 36%. In the race for a Chualar Union School District Governing Board Member Trustee Area 3 seat Rebecca Trujillo took home over 56% of the vote Ofelia Flores grabbed over 43% of the vote and.
