Greenfield Man Caught and Arrested for Suspected DUI Fatal Hit and Run 2 Vehicle Crash that Killed Salinas Man on June 25
The Monterey-CHP reports that on Saturday morning, June 25 at 3:17 am a 41 year old Salinas man was driving his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 on northbound Highway 101 north of Main Street in Salinas, while 20 year old Andres Roque Espinoza of Greenfield was driving a 2020 Subaru WRX northbound on Highway 101 north of Main Street behind the Dodge Ram. A preliminary investigation determined that the front of the Subaru hit the rear of the Dodge causing the Dodge to overturn and rotate toward the right shoulder. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but the driver of the Dodge eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru Espinoza fled the scene and was later arrested by the CHP. Drugs and/or alcohol are believed to be a factor at this time. The crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Monterey Area Office. The Monterey County Coroner's Office will provide identification on the victim when the next of kin has been given proper notification.
