Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer; Generations become united across time in this fanciful tale at the Paso Robles City Library
PASO ROBLES, CA –April 21, 2022 On Thursday, May 19, 6-7 pm, the public is invited to enhance its reading experience by participating in a Zoom discussion of Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer. With only a yellowing photograph in hand, a young American man sets out with his grandfather, an old man haunted by memories of the war, a family dog named Sammy Davis Junior Junior, and Alexi, a young Ukrainian translator who speaks in sublimely butchered English, to find the woman who might or might not have saved his grandfather from the Nazis. “Although there's plenty of lyrical acrobatics here, with exquisite magic realism intermingling with Alexi's uproarious narration, it's the emotional depth of the characters that stands out. . . .” Booklist 2002 Registration is required for each participant. This title is available in various formats through the Black Gold Library System. For ages 16+. The Library is Monday-Friday 9-7 and Saturday 9-4. Curbside service is available during open hours.
