Updated numbers from the Monterey County Health Department on Friday, December 11 report that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County are now at 17,379 people, while 147,045 people have been tested in the County. 4,842 of the cases are out of South Monterey County which include 1,020 in King City, 1,235 in Greenfield, 1,710 in Soledad, 683 in Gonzales, 64 in San Ardo, 96 in Chualar, 18 in San Lucas while 16 cases are from other cities or towns in South Monterey County. In addition, 6,517 are from person to person transmissions, 4,925 have come from community transmissions, 119 are currently hospitalized, 153 people have died, 12,025 people have recovered, 4,034 are under investigation and 3,076 people who work in Agriculture have come down with COVID-19.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered. The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. Based on the nature of this investigation, no further details regarding the recovery of this vehicle are being released at this time. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office and the King City PD are asking the community for their assistance in reporting any information they may know regarding this incident which tragically left 4 people dead and 7 people injured, two with critical injuries.
