Updated numbers from the Monterey County Health Department on Monday, November 30 report that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County are now at 15,189 people, while 135,242 people have been tested in the County. 4,482 of the cases are out of South Monterey County which include 965 in King City, 1,163 in Greenfield, 1,569 in Soledad, 597 in Gonzales, 62 in San Ardo, 93 in Chualar, 17 in San Lucas while 16 cases are from other cities or towns in South Monterey County. In addition, 5,736 are from person to person transmissions, 4,458 have come from community transmissions, 830 people have been hospitalized, 122 people have died, 10,728 people have recovered, 3,177 are under investigation and 2,954 people who work in Agriculture have come down with COVID-19.
King City Man Arrested on January 6 for Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping
According to King City Police Department, on December 30, 2024 a 17-year-old minor female victim reported that she had attended a party on the 100 Block of Bedford Circle on December 24, 2024. During the party, the suspect provided her with alcohol. He then pulled the victim into a bedroom, forcibly removed her clothing and had sexual intercourse with her against her will. This case was investigated by the King City Police Department Investigations Unit which resulted in the apprehension and arrest on January 6, 2025 of the suspect identified as 21-year-old Jesus Oseguera Briseno of King City. Briseno was also booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Kidnapping.
