3 Men Busted in Salinas for Robbery, Conspiracy and Possession of a Concealed Firearm

Three residents from South Monterey County were caught and detained in Salinas for a robbery incident that took place on Wednesday morning, May 27 at 12:25 am. Salinas Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant located at Sanborn Road and McGowan Drive where the victim had been beat up and pistol whipped. Officers found the victim bleeding from the head and he was transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The victim said he was accosted, robbed and pistol whipped by three suspects wearing black hooded sweatshirts. They ended up taking his wallet and backpack before they all ran towards McGowan Circle. Officers conducted an extensive area search for the suspects and were subsequently able to locate three individuals matching the suspects description inside a vehicle parked nearby. They were detained and after they were positively identified as the robbery suspects, they were arrested. Officers found a 9mm handgun and evidence linking the suspects to the crime in the vehicle.
The three suspects arrested were 19-year-old Xavier Jimenez of Soledad, 19-year-old Richard Andrew Flores of Gonzales and a 16-year-old juvenile from Gonzales. Jimenez and Flores were transported to Monterey County Jail, while the minor was transported to juvenile hall. All suspects are facing charges of robbery, conspiracy and possession of a concealed firearm.

Fatal 3 Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong Way Driver on Highway 101 Outside of King City on January 10

A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. According to the King City CHP a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old Paul Lee Cooper of Otis, Oregon was heading the wrong way going southbound in the northbound lanes south of Jolon Road, while a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Dinora Maribel Gomez of Salinas was heading northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road in the #1 lane and a Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old Ignacio Sangerman of King City was also traveling northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road but was in the #2 lane. Due to Cooper's level of impairment his vehicle went the wrong way on Highway 101 going directly into the path of Gomez' vehicle causing the rear of her car to crash with the front of the vehicle driven by Sangerman. SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025.
