Road & Lane Closures in South Monterey County



MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, March 29 through Saturday, April 4. 

Highway 101: Wild Horse – First Street, King City: March 31 – April 3
Traffic breaks will occur along northbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and First Street for shoulder work from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Highway 101: Wild Horse Road, King City: April 2 – April 3
Full closure of the off and on ramps to northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Wild Horse Road will occur for paving work from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Highway 101: Wild Horse – First Street, King City: March 31 – April 3
Traffic breaks will occur along northbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and First Street for shoulder work from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Traffic breaks along southbound Highway 101 will only occur on April 3.

Highway 101: San Ardo – First Street, King City: April 2 – April 3
A moving lane closure will occur along northbound Highway 101 between San Ardo and First Street for vegetation spraying 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highway 101: Camp Roberts Rest Area: Long-Term Closure
There will be full closure of the northbound and southbound Camp Roberts Rest Area for electrical and emergency work.

Highway 101: Lockwood/San Lucas – Paris Valley Road: Long-Term Closure
There will be one lane closure on northbound & southbound Highway 101 at Lockwood/San Lucas Road for excavation work.

Highway 101: Monterey Road – East Garrison, San Luis Obispo County: Long – Term Closure
One long-term alternating lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County between Monterey Road and East Garrison for miscellaneous road work from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Suspect Vehicle in King City Quadruple Homicide on March 3 Has Been Located

  The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of the King City Police Department is informing the community that the suspect vehicle involved in a quadruple homicide that occurred Sunday, March 3 on the 200 block of North Second Street in King City, has been located and recovered.  The vehicle was located in an unincorporated area of South Monterey County. The King City Police Department is receiving assistance from multiple local and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. Based on the nature of this investigation, no further details regarding the recovery of this vehicle are being released at this time.   The Monterey County Sheriff's Office and the King City PD are asking the community for their assistance in reporting any information they may know regarding this incident which tragically left 4 people dead and 7 people injured, two with critical injuries. 3 Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 in Soledad on December 7

  A 3 vehicle crash ocurred on Highway 101 Southbound near the Front Street exit in Soledad at 4:01 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 7. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

1 Vehicle Rollover Outside of King City on October 20

  1 vehicle overturned off of County Road 18 and Frudden Road outside of King City at 2:34 pm on Friday afternoon, October 20. 1 occupant received injuries as a result of the crash and ended up being transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas to be treated. The cause of the wreck is unknown.
