According to a report released from the Monterey County Health Department on Friday, March 20 a fifth person has tested positive for the coronavirus in Monterey County. The first two cases were announced on Tuesday, March 17, while two more came down on Thursday, March 19. Four of the people received the coronavirus because of traveling, while a fifth came back positive from person-to-person spread. Personal information about the patients will not be released due to privacy laws.
On Tuesday, March 17 Monterey County issued a Shelter in Place order and Governor Gavin Newsom issued a stay at home order Thursday, March 19.
