A 1 vehicle accident took place in the Templeton area on Sunday night, February 16 at around 9:30 pm as 42-year-old Zackary Thomas Boswell of Cambria was driving a Polaris Ranger 700 UTV to 18844 State Route 1 south of Ragged Point. There were 2 passengers in the front seat as well as 2 other passengers in the bed portion of the Ranger. Due to Boswell's alcoholic intoxication, he allowed the Ranger to veer from an otherwise safe path of travel by veering off the property and rolling down a 30-foot embankment. The Ranger ejected all 5 occupants and came to rest in the northbound lane of State Route 1. No one was wearing helmets or seat belts at the time of the collision. The crash resulted in minor to major injuries to 3 of the occupants. Cal Fire personnel responded and tended to the injured parties. They were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center via Cambria Ambulance, while Boswell was arrested at the hospital for Felony DUI Causing Injuries.
