The King City Police Department has issued a scam alert that drivers should be aware of. It states that as of January 2020, if you're caught using your cell phone or holding it while you're driving that you'll receive a $999 fine and a 3 year suspended license. Please note that California state law will not automatically issue a suspension for cell phone violations. However, they will begin issuing points against a license history for more than one violation in a 36 month time frame.
