King City Man Pleads Guilty to Armed Robbery of 7-11 Store Clerk & Resisting Arrest



SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced on Monday, November 18 that 39-year-old Jose Aceves of King City pled to guilty one count of armed robbery and one count of resisting arrest. Aceves also admitted that he has a prior strike conviction.
On September 4, 2018, Aceves entered a 7-Eleven store located on Broadway Street in King City. Aceves asked the victim for a pack of cigarettes. The victim retrieved the cigarettes and handed them to Aceves who then pulled out a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The victim opened the register and backed away. Aceves stole $200 in cash and left the store.
Approximately 45 minutes later, Aceves returned to the area while police officers were on the scene. Officers recognized Aceves as the perpetrator from viewing the store’s surveillance video. Aceves led officers on a short foot pursuit before he was apprehended.
Judge Andrew G. Liu will sentence Aceves on January 15, 2020. Aceves faces a maximum of 16 years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Attempted Homicide Shooting Incident in King City on September 29

  The King City Police Department received a report of gunshots heard in the area of the 600 block of Sycamore Street at around 1 am on Sunday, September 29. While enroute, the King City PD was advised that 2 victims were transported to Mee Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be treated for gunshot wounds.   Upon arrival, officers were told that a single unknown suspect opened the gate to a fenced yard and fired 10 rounds into a crowd attending a party. 2 individuals were struck by the gunfire, after-which the suspect fled on foot.  The suspect was described as wearing a dark colored hoodie and pants. 3 Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 Outside of King City on December 26

  A 3 vehicle accident happened on Highway 101 Northbound near the Central Avenue exit outside of King City at 12:07 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 26. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. Minor injuries were reported from the collision.
