According to the US Geological Survey a magnitude 4.7 earthquake hit 10 miles south to southeast of the Tres Pinos area at around 12:42 pm on Tuesday, October 15. Previous reports had the quake measuring at 5.0 and 4.8. The earthquake was felt in Salinas, Chualar, King City, Greenfield, Soledad, Gonzales and many of the surrounding areas of South Monterey County. The depth of the quake was 5.6 miles. No injuries or damages were reported.
