The California Highway Patrol Monterey Area worked along the US-101 South of Salinas corridor on Thursday, September 12 as a joint traffic enforcement operation known as S.T.O.P.P. The CHP works the Strategic Traffic Operation Planning and Prevention (S.T.O.P.P.) with multiple agencies in Monterey County once a month. These Monterey County agencies work in each other’s cities to saturate different traffic issues.
The combined jurisdictions conducted joint traffic enforcement throughout the South of Salinas US-101 corridor from Gonzales to Airport Blvd. in Salinas Thursday, September 12. The enforcement efforts included CHP Monterey, Monterey PD, Marina PD, and Salinas PD. By working together a total of 65 citations were written, 2 vehicles towed, and 6 verbal warnings.
This is crucial for the safety and well-being of the public in Monterey County. California Highway Patrol Monterey Area hopes the effort will reduce traffic collisions, injuries and fatalities, and provide public awareness of the safety issue and enforcement efforts.
