Road and lane closures in South Monterey County

Highway 101: Wild Horse Road – Jolon Road, King City:  July 15 – July 17
Lane and ramp closures will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Wild Horse Road and Jolon Road in King City for striping & grinding work today until Wednesday from 5 am to 4 pm.

Highway 101: First Street  – Wild Horse Road, King City:  July 15
One lane will be closed along southbound Highway 101 between First Street and Wild Horse Road in King City for K-rail installation work today from 7 am to 4 pm.

Highway 101: First Street  – Wild Horse Road, King City:  July 17 – July 19
One nighttime lane closure will occur along southbound Highway 101 between First Street and Wild Horse Road for K-rail installation work, Wednesday & Thursday,  from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Highway 101: Camp Roberts: Now – September 27
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts for paving work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a long-term closure of                        the on and off ramps of northbound Highway 101 at Camp Roberts.

Highway 101: South Camp Roberts – East Garrison: Now  – August 30
One long-term lane closure along the shoulders of southbound Highway 101 between South Camp Roberts and East Garrison for roadway excavation work.

Highway 101: San Ardo – San Lucas: Now – December 31
One long-term lane closure will occur along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between the Paris Valley Road overcrossing and the Rancho undercrossing for grinding and paving work.

3 Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 Outside of King City on December 26

  A 3 vehicle accident happened on Highway 101 Northbound near the Central Avenue exit outside of King City at 12:07 pm on Thursday afternoon, December 26. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the crash. Minor injuries were reported from the collision. 

Greenfield Man Arrested for November 26 Attempted Murder Incident in King City

  On November 26, 2024, at approximately 4:05 PM, officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Broadway Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had been shot multiple times and was transported by family members to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening wounds. Through investigation, detectives identified a possible suspect vehicle. A subject associated to that vehicle was contacted and later arrested for his involvement in the shooting. He is identified as 20-year-old Adrian Justo of Greenfield. Justo was booked into Monterey County Jail for attempted murder. There is no additional information at this time and the investigation is on-going.
