A brush fire lit up sometime after 3 pm on Highway 101 Northbound near the Thorne Road exit in Greenfield on Tuesday, June 11. Three Cal Fire engines, 1 handcrew, 3 Cal Fire Chiefs and the Greenfield Fire Department controlled the fire within 45 minutes. According to Greenfield Fire Chief Jim Langborg, the blaze burned 5 acres and was caused by an Ag Truck which was pulling a Trailer that lost a wheel. Highway 101 Southbound was shutdown in that area for about 40 minutes because of the heavy smoke along with the Thorne Road exit Offramp on 101 South which was closed for a few hours. No one was injured.
