A man was caught and busted after leading Monterey County Sheriff's deputies and police officers on a high-speed chase near Soledad on Sunday morning, April 28. The chase began when a Monterey County Sheriff's Deputy located a stolen Mercedes driving southbound on Highway 101. As he waited for more deputies to respond, the driver took off, while the patrol car was following him.
The driver led the deputy on a chase that reached speeds up to 130 miles per hour on Foothill Road. Another deputy deployed spike strips that disabled the tires on the Mercedes. The driver crashed into a drainage ditch, striking a fence on Foletta Road. Multiple deputies were involved as well as police officers from Greenfield and Soledad. Bryan Hanamoto, who also had a felony arrest warrant, was arrested and taken into custody.
