The winter High School sports season came to a close on Saturday, February 23 for the King City Boys Soccer team who lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Leigh of San Jose in the Division 4 Central Coast Section Championship at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale. The Mustangs came close to scoring twice in the game as they had a goal waved off during the 24th minute because of a foul that was called against them in the 18 yard box and as time was winding down in the 2nd Half the Mustangs had another goal called back by the officials who said that they were offsides during the play inside the 18. The Mustangs also had a penalty kicked stopped by the Leigh keeper in the 1st Half. King City Boys Head Soccer Coach Jaime Cortes is very proud of his team despite the final outcome. The Mustangs finished the season with a record of 15-7 and 2 as they played in a CCS title game for the 1st time in over 30 years.
