A fire house broke out off of 355 Ventana Avenue in Greenfield sometime after 10 am on Tuesday morning, January 1 to begin 2019. Greenfield Fire Chief Jim Langborg said that the occupants at the residence used a garden hose to try and contain the fire, but the Greenfield Fire Department was paged in a joint response with CAL FIRE with 3 engines on the scene to put out the blaze in less than 10 minutes. The fire was contained to the room of origin and was caused by unattended candles in a back bedroom. No one was injured and no arson is suspected. The fire caused around $40,000 in damages to the home.
