On Wednesday morning, November 21 at 6:10 am, a fatal traffic collision occurred on US-101 Southbound, south of Central Avenue in King City. The collision occurred as a driver operating a Chevy Astro Van Farm Labor Vehicle failed to yield to the right of way to oncoming traffic as it proceeded westbound into the direct path of a Dodge Journey, from US-101 northbound. The driver of the Dodge Journey was travelling southbound on US-101 as the driver of the Chevy attempted to cross the southbound lanes directly ahead. The front of the Dodge Journey collided with the right passenger side of the Chevy. At the time of this preliminary report, a total of the three individuals sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision. California Highway Patrol Officers, multiple AMR personel and Cal-Fire Department personnel responded to the scene. The number two lane of southbound US-101 was closed for several hours to investigate the traffic collision and to facilitate removal of the involved vehicles. The identities of the deceased are not being released, pending next of kin notifications. It is not immediately known if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor as the accident is still under investigation.
