The El Grito Mexican Independence Day celebration is coming up on Sunday, September 16 in King City. A parade will kick things off on Broadway Street beginning at 11 am with a Festival to follow until around 5 pm at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Salinas Valley Fair CEO TJ Plew said that there will be a lot of folklore dancing and an el grito shout with the Father from St. John's Church in King City. In addition, 2 people from the community will be recognized during the event. Plew stated that the El Grito celebration has been held in King City for several years during the same weekend of the weekly flea market at the Fairgrounds.
