A vegetation fire broke out off of Turkey Flat Road in South Monterey County near Parkfield sometime after after 1 pm on Monday, August 6. The blaze burned over 2,200 acres near a solar plant. No structures were seriously threatened and no one was injured. As of Tuesday, August 7 the fire is now 100% contained and forward progress of the fire stopped. The cause of the blaze is unknown. A lot of the smoke in the air in South Monterey County is from the Mendocino Complex. This week it is expected to get hotter which means that we'll have a different wind pattern.
