Sheriff Bernal defeated Scott Davis in the primary election by receiving over 59% of the votes counted through 100% of the precincts on Tuesday night, June 5. Other local races have not been officially decided on with more mail in votes set to come in as District 3 Monterey County Supervisor candidate Chris Lopez has a big lead over Alejandro Chavez and District 30 Assemblyman candidate Robert Rivas and Neil Kitchens are both in the top 2 of that race.
