Steve Pritt, Director
of Eden Valley Care Center and the Soledad Medical Group died of a heart attack
on Saturday, March 3 at the age of 69. A Memorial will be held on Friday, March 9 at 10 am at Madonna
Del Sasso Catholic Church in Salinas. Burial will be private. A celebration of
life for Pritt will occur on Saturday, March 17 from 11 am to 1 pm at Eden Valley Care Center.
Lake San Antonio Closed Due to Large Scale Fish Die Off; Number of Fish Impacted is Increasing and Reason for Die Off Remains Unknown
July 9, 2024- Out of abundance of caution for public health, County of Monterey Parks is closing the Lake San Antonio facility due to a large-scale fish die off from an unknown cause. On July 5, 2024, Parks staff noticed that dead baitfish, mostly shad, began washing up on the shore around Lake San Antonio and immediately contacted California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to report the situation. At that time, the CDFW fisheries biologist stated the fish die off was most likely due to the high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen level in the water and that the situation most likely did not present a risk to the public. Parks staff also contacted the Water Resources Agency (WRA), State Water Resources Control Board and Environmental Health Bureau. Very, very sad news, I worked for Steve for several years and always left my time with him with a smile on my face. I can't think of many people I ever met who had a more positive outlook on life than Steve Pritt. I am sure he'll be missed and his shoes will be hard to fill.
