Paso Robles REC Foundation & Recreation Services Announce 2024 Concerts in the Park Lineup; Concerts Begin in City Park June 13

  PASO ROBLES, CA – The Paso Robles REC Foundation in partnership with Paso Robles Recreation Services, J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines and Firestone Walker Brewing Company is pleased to announce the 2024 summer Concerts in the Park series lineup. The concert season will kick-off at 6:00 p.m. at City Park in Paso Robles on Thursday, June 13 and continue through Thursday, August 22. This year Paso Robles Recreation Services is offering multiple sponsorship tiers for the series. Sponsorships are available on a first come, first served basis until sold out. Health Update; National Increase in Measles Cases

As of March 7, 45 cases of measles have been diagnosed among U.S. residents in 2024, including 2 cases among California residents. In comparison to 2023, there were 58 cases of measles among U.S. residents during the entire year. Many of the 2024 cases have been linked to international travelers. There have been no confirmed cases of measles in Monterey County in 2024 to date. Measles is a highly infectious viral illness. While one person with COVID-19 can infect one to three others, one person with measles can infect as many as 18 other susceptible individuals. One in five people who get measles will require hospitalization for their illness. One in 1,000 will develop severe complications including encephalitis, respiratory complications, and death. Monterey County March 5 Presidential Primary Election Updated Results Report and Estimated Unprocessed Ballots

  SALINAS, CA – The updated results report No. 6 for the March 5 Presidential Primary is now available on the Monterey County Elections website.  As of Wednesday, March 13, the estimated number of ballots left to count include:   Vote by Mail 50 Provisional and CVR 375 Total 425   Vote by mail ballots postmarked on or before Election Day and received by Tuesday, March 12, 2024, as well as any Monterey County vote by mail ballots returned to election officials in other counties by Election Day, will be added to the count as applicable.   The next report will be issued on Friday, March 15 followed by Wednesday, March 20 and will repeat each Wednesday and Friday until all ballots are tallied.   Vote by mail ballots with missing or non-matching signatures include: Missing Signature                                                  ...

Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Man with Loaded Concealed Handgun, Controlled Substances and $11,000 during King City Patrols on March 11

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the King City area have taken another gun off the streets as a result of the added patrols that began on March 7, 2024. On Monday, March 11, 2024 at 7:02 pm Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop along the 1100 block of Broadway Street in King City. The driver was identified as 29-year-old King City resident Israel Garcia Carrasco. Based on deputies’ observations of the driver and interior of the vehicle, they were able to conduct a search of the vehicle. During the search deputies located a loaded and concealed firearm along with approximately 17 grams of cocaine that was packaged with the intent to sell. Also located was $11,000 cash, gang indicia and a quarter pound of marijuana. Israel Garcia Carrasco was taken into custody. Detectives from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit along with arresting deputies, were able to author and obtain a search warrant for Garcia Carrasco’s residence. ...

Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies Make 2 Separate Felony Arrests During Added King City Patrols on March 7 & 8

  Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the King City area have made 2 separate Felony arrests during the added patrols that began on March 7, 2024.   On Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 9:02 pm Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Broadway and Canal Street in King City. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Jose Jeronimo Baca Hernandez of King City.  During the contact, the driver admitted he was unlicensed and then admitted to deputies that he was in possession of a handgun.  The deputies were able to confirm that Baca Hernandez had a loaded and concealed firearm in his waistband.  The firearm was found to have an altered serial number.  He was also in violation of his active probation terms.  Baca Hernandez was booked into the Monterey County Jail for PC 1203.2(a): Violation of Probation; PC 25400(a)(2): Carry Concealed Weapon on Person; PC 23900: Alter/Remove Identification Marks on Firearm.  His bail was set at ...

Skunk and Fox Test Positive for Rabies in the City of Salinas

  Salinas, CA – March 8, 2024 – A skunk found on February 20, 2024, near Rider Avenue and Del Monte Avenue and a fox found on February 21, 2024, near Constitution Blvd and East Laurel Drive, both in the City of Salinas, have tested positive for the rabies virus. Animal Services has investigated both incidents and determined that there was exposure to owned pet(s). Those pet(s) that were exposed have been placed under quarantine. County of Monterey Public Health is further investigating to determinme any potential human exposure.  The Public Health Bureau and Animal Services want to remind residents and visitors that there is a continuous presence of rabies in local wildlife, both in and out of city limits. In Monterey County, skunks and bats are the most common species to test positive for the virus. Domestic animals, including companion dogs and cats are at risk for rabies throughout Monterey County.
