Paso Robles, CA-On Thursday night, January 13 at about 5:15pm, Paso Robles Police Officers were dispatched to 34th Street and Spring Street for a report of a 3 vehicle traffic collision with unknown injuries. As Officers were responding, the call was upgraded to a collision with a possible fatality. As officers arrived on the scene, they located 3 involved vehicles, all with significant damage. Officers also located the driver of one of the vehicles, a 17-year-old male victim who was dead at the scene. His name will not be released as he is a juvenile. The other involved drivers and passengers were not injured. The Paso Robles Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the collision. While the investigation in ongoing, preliminarily it has been determined the juvenile victim was driving northbound Spring Street at a high rate of speed. The Hartnell Community College District Governing Board voted unanimously on Jan. 11 to appoint Dr. Steven Crow as interim superintendent/president, starting Jan. 15. Since January 2021, Dr. Crow has been Hartnell’s vice president for administrative services, responsible for district finances, facilities and emergency management. His 26-year career in college administration includes 15 years as a vice president at several California community colleges, beginning with leadership in information technology. Dr. Crow will serve as Hartnell’s top executive through June 30, while the district completes a national search for a new permanent superintendent/president. A 3 vehicle collision happened at 41 Serena Ct. in Atascadero sometime between 8 pm and 9 pm on Wednesday night, January 12. One driver was arrested for driving under the influence, while 2 others were transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

On Wednesday night, January 12 at 5:10 pm San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of shots heard on the 200 block of W. 4th Street in rural Paso Robles. The Paso Robles PD and the CHP also responded to the call. When Deputies arrived, they received information from multiple witnesses regarding the location where the shots may have come from. When Deputies tried to contact the residents at one location, the man retreated into his home and refused to exit. Deputies maintained contact the with the man who eventually came out of the home with his wife. They were briefly detained while the investigation continued and then released. No suspects were identified. Deputies were unable to determine the source of the shots. The investigation is continuing to determine if any crime occurred.

Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services responded to a fire at the Union Bank building on El Camino Real at 1 pm on Thursday, January 13. The fire was confined to the rooftop and everyone was evacuated safely. The fire was extinquished and crews overhauled the affected area. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Paso Robles, CA,-On January 13, 2022, at about 1000am, the Paso Robles Police Department, with the assistance from the District Attorney’s Counter Human Trafficking Team, executed two search warrants on two massage parlors in the City of Paso Robles. One location was on the 800 block of 13th Street, while the other was located on the 2100 block of Spring Street. During the course of the investigation, it was learned through several sources and undercover operations that the massage parlors were offering sexual favors in exchange for money. There was additional concern some of the involved employees may be victims of human trafficking. The law enforcement team served the two search warrants and discovered significant evidence that each massage parlor was exchanging sexual favors for money. There were no indications any of the involved employees were victims of human trafficking.
