Fatal 3 Vehicle Collision in Paso Robles

Paso Robles, CA-On Thursday night, January 13 at about 5:15pm, Paso Robles Police Officers were dispatched to 34th Street and Spring Street for a report of a 3 vehicle traffic collision with unknown injuries. As Officers were responding, the call was upgraded to a collision with a possible fatality. As officers arrived on the scene, they located 3 involved vehicles, all with significant damage. Officers also located the driver of one of the vehicles, a 17-year-old male victim who was dead at the scene. His name will not be released as he is a juvenile. The other involved drivers and passengers were not injured. The Paso Robles Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the collision. While the investigation in ongoing, preliminarily it has been determined the juvenile victim was driving northbound Spring Street at a high rate of speed. Several witnesses reported seeing the juvenile victim’s vehicle traveling at an estimated speed of 70 MPH. This area of Spring Street is posted at 35MPH. The two involved vehicles pulled onto Spring Street from 34th Street at the same time, each turning left from opposite sides of Spring Street, and due to the excessive speed of the other vehicle, could not take evasive action to avoid a collision. The male victim’s vehicle struck both merging vehicles with a significant amount of force, became partially airborne, before coming to a skidding stop. During the course of the investigation, several security camera videos of the collision taking place have been obtained. That footage is currently being analyzed and compared to evidence at the scene. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this collision pending toxicology reports. The Paso Robles Police Department realizes this is a tragic event where a person lost their life, and our condolences go out to the family. This is an unfortunate reminder to always drive with due caution for the safety of everyone on the roadway. Fatal 3 Vehicle Accident Involving Wrong Way Driver on Highway 101 Outside of King City on January 10

A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. According to the King City CHP a 2016 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old Paul Lee Cooper of Otis, Oregon was heading the wrong way going southbound in the northbound lanes south of Jolon Road, while a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old Dinora Maribel Gomez of Salinas was heading northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road in the #1 lane and a Honda Accord driven by 36-year-old Ignacio Sangerman of King City was also traveling northbound on Highway 101 south of Jolon Road but was in the #2 lane. Due to Cooper's level of impairment his vehicle went the wrong way on Highway 101 going directly into the path of Gomez' vehicle causing the rear of her car to crash with the front of the vehicle driven by Sangerman. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield. The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding. The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.
