On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Enedina Garcia was appointed as Auditor-Controller by the County of Monterey’s
Board of Supervisors. She was selected to fill the unexpired term that became vacant in May 2026 when the
previous Auditor-Controller left County service.
Garcia previously served as the County’s Assistant Auditor-Controller and was elected to serve as the next
County Auditor-Controller in June 2026. As Assistant Auditor-Controller, Enedina Garcia has led the Auditor-
Controller’s Department since May of this year, ensuring continuity of critical operational services for County
residents.
Garcia will be sworn in for her elected term in January 2027.
“I am honored to be appointed as Auditor-Controller and truly humbled to have been elected to serve in this role
for the upcoming term,” Garcia told the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors upon her appointment. “My
priority is to ensure the continuity of the office’s critical operations. I remain committed to three core values:
accountability, integrity and transparency for our County and look forward to building a strong working
relationship with the Board, County Administrative Office, County Departments and most importantly, our
community.”
Garcia joined the County of Monterey Auditor-Controller’s Office in 2025, bringing nearly 18 years of
progressive experience and leadership in local government.
She began her public service career in 2007 in the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office for the
County of Fresno, gaining comprehensive experience in a range of financial functions. Her responsibilities
included preparing the Countywide Cost Allocation Plan, calculating and apportioning property taxes,
conducting internal audits, overseeing the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, and
providing countywide training for accounting/ finance staff, contributing to the efficiency of county operations.
Advancing through leadership roles, Garcia ultimately attained the position of Deputy Auditor-Controller in
2018. She served in this capacity for seven years, providing strategic oversight across multiple divisions. Her
responsibilities in this role mirrored the organizational structure of the Monterey County Auditor-Controller’s
Office, demonstrating her aptitude for managing complex financial operations and fostering departmental
collaboration.
Garcia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in ccounting
from California State University, Fresno.
