Arts4MC Continues Support for Local Arts & Culture Projects with New Round of Community Arts Grants; Spring Application Period is March 16 - April 13, 2026

 

[MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – MARCH 12, 2026] – The Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) is pleased to announce that applications for the Spring Cycle of the Community Arts Grants will officially open on Monday, March 16, 2026. These grants are designed to empower local nonprofit organizations to bring vibrant public arts and culture programs to life across the region.


The Community Arts Grants provide awards of up to $7,500 annually to support both new initiatives and the sustaining of beloved existing programs. To be eligible, nonprofit organizations must have a total annual revenue less than $3 million.


“We are proud to support the vision of our local organizations that work tirelessly to enrich our community through the arts,” said Jacquie Atchison, Executive Director at Arts4MC. “Whether it’s a mural, a performance, or a community workshop, these grants help ensure that arts and culture remain accessible to everyone in Monterey County.”


The Community Arts Grants are made possible through the generous support of several key partners, including the County of Monterey, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, and the Todd Lueders Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. Arts4MC also extends its gratitude to the Monterey County Board of Supervisors for their continued commitment to advancing the local arts landscape.


Application Period: March 16 - April 13, 2026

Award Amount: Up to $7,500

Eligibility: Arts and culture programming by a nonprofit (minimum two years of work) with total revenue under $3 million.

Requirement: Organizations may receive one grant per year and must have completed final reports for any previous grants prior to applying.


Interested organizations are encouraged to review the grant guidelines and prepare their proposals in advance. Zoom office hours will be held every Tuesday on 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, and 4/7 from 2 PM - 3 PM  to provide assistance at bit.ly/commartsgrantsofficehours.   A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13. Arreola's first day on the job is scheduled to be February 23.    José Arreola has a distinguished career of serving the community with a particular commitment to youth. He has worked for the City of Salinas for 12 years as their Community Safety Program Manager, Community Safety Administrator and Assistant to the City Manager. King City CHP is searching for person of interest who fled the scene of a fatal crash in Greenfield

On Monday, September 16 at approximately 3:50 pm, a fatal traffic collision occurred on Metz Road south of Elm Avenue in Greenfield.  The driver who caused the collision fled on foot and is currently outstanding.  The California Highway Patrol King City Area is currently seeking the whereabouts of 31-year-old Agustin Santana-Moncada of King City who has been identified as a person of interest in the case.  The King City Area is requesting assistance from the public in locating Santana-Moncada.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the King City Area office at (831) 385-3216.
