California Rodeo Salinas is Hosting a Drive-Thru Dinner Fundraiser to Benefit the Golden Circle of Champions on March 12!

 

SALINAS, CA, February 20, 2026 – The California Rodeo Salinas is proud to announce its annual drive-thru dinner fundraiser supporting the Golden Circle of Champions, a program dedicated to raising awareness for pediatric cancer and providing financial aid to children and their families. The event will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Rabobank Stadium in Salinas.


The Golden Circle of Champions supports families affected by pediatric cancer by addressing immediate needs, including medical expenses, travel costs, and more. The Salinas Golden Circle of Champions Committee now hosts an annual Family Playday at Hope, Horses & Kids in Salinas, where these families can enjoy farm animals, horseback riding, fishing, and more. This has quickly become a beloved tradition and an opportunity to bond our growing ‘Golden Family.’ Additionally, the program offers one family per year a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, bringing moments of joy during challenging times.


This year’s fundraiser invites the community to pre-order a family-style barbecue meal serving at least 4 people for $75. All net proceeds benefit the Golden Circle of Champions program, supporting local Salinas Valley children. The Salinas City Barbecue meal includes a whole tri-tip, barbecue beans, bread rolls, potato salad, and green salad. Salinas City Barbecue generously donates its labor and packaging, secures food items at cost, and partners with the Rodeo committee to distribute the meals. Additional generous local donors, like Vallarta Supermarkets and Taylor Farms, are contributing bread and salad items to help maximize the impact of every purchase.


Meals must be pre-ordered online by March 9, 2026, and pickups will occur on Thursday, March 12th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rabobank Stadium on Maryal Drive. A bake sale will also be available in the Rabobank Stadium pickup line for those who would like to add a sweet treat (additional purchase required).

  A fatal multi-vehicle collision happened on Saturday night, January 10 at 9:51 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 outside of King City. Monterey County DA Releases Preliminary Information Concerning an Officer Involved Shooting Incident that Occurred Outside of Soledad on December 16

  SALINAS, California- Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni on December 19 released preliminary information concerning the officer involved shooting (OIS) which occurred at about 1:20 a.m. outside the city of Soledad on December 16, 2025. Just before 1:00 a.m., Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputy Carlos Pina, who has been a peace officer for 10 years all with MCSO, and Deputy Blain Councilman, each in separate patrol cars, were dispatched to 32097 McCoy Road. A resident at the farm labor camp reported a suspicious individual with a handgun whose white Honda 4 door sedan was parked in space 18 at the complex. King City City Council Announces Selection of José Arreola as New City Manager

  January 7, 2025-Following an extensive recruitment process, José Arreola has been selected by the King City City Council to be its next City Manager. Arreola will replace Steve Adams, who is retiring after serving in the position for the past 10 years. Arreola was selected from 31 applicants and 8 finalists for the position. The King City City Council will formally consider the proposed city manager contract at its meeting on Tuesday night, January 13.
