Groundbreaking Ceremony to be Held at Veteran's Park in Soledad for Recycled Water Conveyance Project on September 27
Soledad, CA – The City of Soledad is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the Recycled Water Conveyance Project! Residents, staff, and media are encouraged to attend this event to learn about the project, meet the project team, and connect with those responsible for putting Soledad on the map as the first city in the tri-county area to use recycled water at City Parks and Schools.
This project has been in the works for the past twenty years, and it’s finally here! Please join the City of Soledad at Veteran’s Park, located at the corner of San Vicente Road and Gabilan Drive, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
With the support of a $16.66 million state grant funded under the Budget Act of 2021 and administered by the Urban Community Drought Relief Program of the Department of Water Resources, the City is moving forward with a citywide recycled water distribution system that will save millions of gallons of drinking water each year while ensuring sustainable irrigation for the community. This project will replace up to 165 acre-feet (54 million gallons) of groundwater pumping per year with recycled water, offsetting potable water use for irrigating sports fields and parks, even during extended drought conditions.
