County of Monterey’s Greenfield Library to Close Temporarily on September 8 for Repair Project is Among Many Library Facility Improvements in Progress

The Greenfield Branch Library, located at 315 El Camino Real, will close on Monday,

September 8, 2025, as work begins on a new roof on the facility. The closure will last for one

week, until September 15, while additional full or partial closure dates are likely for safety as

repair work continues through the end of October. The community will be updated on

additional impacts to services.

The library branch building has a traditional tile roof, which will be preserved. Tiles will be re-

used as repairs are being done underneath to stop leaks and preserve this community hub.

During the closure, here is important information for library users:

• No items can be returned at the branch during the closure. Items can be returned to any

other branch or at a Bookmobile stop.

• Wireless internet will remain active around the branch, on 7:00 am –7:00 pm

• The Greenfield phone line will be forwarded to Soledad Library, staff can assist.

• If you want to put an item on hold, they can route your request to any other branch,

Bookmobile stop, or to the free Library By Mail service.

• The Bookmobile will make visits to Hicks Park, adjacent to the Greenfield branch during

the closure. Please see the online calendar of events at www.eMCFL.org for the schedule

or call the Soledad Branch Library at 831-386-6890.

• Print/Scan/Copy services are available through the Bookmobile stop at Hicks Park, or at

any other branch of Monterey County Free Libraries.

The Greenfield repair is among many library facility improvements taking place in the near

future. Projects planned and in progress include:

• Big Sur Library –replacement of entry and porch

• Pajaro Library –repairs underway and building upgrades

• San Lucas Library –landscaping enhancements to add seating and shade

• Greenfield Library –repair and improve the parking lot for accessibility

• Gonzales Library – will close Thanksgiving week November 2025 and reopen in our new
